In case you don’t know, this mill put food on my table for the first 20 or more years of my life (well, actually it wasn’t so much the mill as my father working at the mill…but you got my point I hope)

My thoughts are with the employees, and really the town – the mill is the economic heart of Liverpool.

I don’t know.  It’s worriesome.  With publications like the Christian Science Monitor and PC Mag dropping their print editions, I think the demand for newsprint/paper will just keep shrinking.

Good to see Liverpool is making the news.

“Too many facebook friends?” I don’t want any more so-called high school ‘friends’ trying to add me on facebook!

Well, here’s my reflections on the topic:  Rin had a Facebook account long before I did.  She was chatting with my sister Shelley on it before her wedding last year.  “What’s that?” I asked, the ever-so-in-touch Scott about to be humbled.  Since then I’ve joined.

And since then there’s been a stream of people from High School, and Uni, and ex-girlfriends adding me as a friend.  And I have no problem with any of it.

I think it’s cool.  I don’t really chat with most of them.  Some times we notice each other’s status updates.  Sometimes I get a “omg you’re in Australia?”, but not as much as you’d think – and I’ve done a little of that “omg you’re in South Korea” myself.

The article, really just a rant someone posted on a forum, seemed to suggest we need to move on.  It’s been     …omg, it’s been 16 years since I left high school.  That can’t be right...carry the one….16?  No I must be on crack…. It’s been atleast 3 years since I left high school.  I flunked out of one Uni, and quit another.  I moved across Canada and then across the ocean.  I married someone I met on the Internet.  I applied for citizenship of another country.  And my old friends, acquaintences, people I passed in the hall, they’ve started smalled businesses, gotten married, had kids, had divorces, lost loved ones, grown, shared, loved.

We have moved on from High School.  That’s the point.  We’ve grown and become so much more than who we were in 1992.  But we all still all share that common link back to old LRHS.

I don’t live my life there any more, I’ve moved on, but it’s always going to be a part of me.  How can anyone deny that?

You know what, if you recognise me on Facebook, or where ever, hell, walking down the street – if you went to the Liverpool Academy with me or LJHS or LRHS or Mount A, Carleton, the Canadian Tulip Festival, I don’t care where we met, if you know me and want to add me as your friend, do it.  We’ll share a cup of coffee, talk about the old days, talk about what we’ve done since then, talk about our families, tease each other, tell each other we’ve gotten fat and old.  We’ll share, and we’ll be better for it.  That’s life, it’s about connections.

(And by the way I’ve forgiven you all for all the rotten things you all did to me.  Ha!)

However, contrast that with me starting to feel the cold mid July (which is January)…brrr, it’s down to 10° tonight! There is frost on the car – better wash it off with garden hose! Yes, it’s hard to miss Canadian winter.
